A VHF handheld radio is intended for two-way communication between two people or a group of people through the same frequency. Having a VHF handheld radio on the water will enable you to communicate with another person. If anything happens and you are in trouble you will be able to get the help that you need as fast as possible.  Some VHF hand held devices have a GPS locator built in.
