Communication - VHF - Fixed Mount

Every boat should have a VHF radio on board . A fixed mounted VHF unit is permanently installed on the boat. One of the main advantages to having a VHF fixed mount is that they are powered by the boats electrical system and less likely to be interrupted. VHF  radio allows to you to contact the harbors masters and other boats or nearby rescue services in an emergency. VHF radios provide a two way communication and have a range of 5 to 30 miles.
