Marine Navigation & Instruments - AIS Systems

The Automatic identification system or AIS is an automatic tracking system that uses transceivers on ships and is used by vessel traffic services.  If your vessel is 300 or more gross tonnage you will need an AIS or if you plan on being in international waters.  AIS system works by taking you position and movements via the vessels' GPS system or an internal sensor built into an AIS unit.
